Rıza Gümbüşoğlu

Rıza Gümbüşoğlu has spent more than forty years in Turkish courtrooms. Of counsel at CBC Law, he now devotes his time to the firm's most demanding disputes, first among them the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards and court judgments.

Rıza began his career as chief court clerk of the Istanbul Courts of First Instance before qualifying as an advocate, and in the decades since he has acted for clients at every stage of enforcement, from the first petition to the sale of attached assets. He remains a senior presence on the firm's largest enforcement matters, and colleagues and clients alike turn to him on the public policy, procedural and execution questions that tend to decide these cases.

The Legal 500 lists Rıza as a leading individual for employment in relation to his work with clients on a comprehensive range of employment matters. He has extensive litigation and dispute resolution experience, representing international companies, Turkish corporates, and start-ups from a wide range of industry sectors in disputes arising from commercial agreements, tortious acts, and with regard to administrative, tax, and customs disputes.

His white-collar crime practice encompasses trade secrets, fraud, embezzlement, bribery, forgery, and money laundering cases. In his corporate practice, Rıza advises clients on the drafting and negotiation of all kinds of commercial agreements, including distributorship, franchise, sale and lease of real estate, construction, partnership, and insurance agreements.

Prior to joining CBC Law, Rıza was a chief court clerk for the Istanbul Courts of First Instance and, subsequently, a senior partner and dispute resolution and employment practice group leader for one of Türkiye’s leading law firms.
